Doritos on a Nutella Sandwich - Or why a Kesha & Macklemore Tour Works

Yes, I do eat Doritos on a Nutella sandwich. Ranch Doritos to be more specific. Don't hate - try it and thank me later! Salty and sweet. Perfect match. Almost made in heaven. What I actually want to say is - YES, odd things work together. Put two things you would never think would work together, and you might end up with an AWESOME combo.

Macklemore is my man. I've been listening to his music for a long long time. Ke$ha though - ummmmm... For me she will always be the girl that appeared on "The Simple Life" in that one episode... just google it :oD ...I mean, now you know two of my darkest secrets. The Dorito Nutella one, and the fact that I have watched "The Simple Life".

Back to music though. I never paid that much attention to Ke$ha. I might have even changed radio stations when her songs came on. But then Macklemore decided to do a song with her. "Good Old Days". I listened to it, and I was blown away. If you don't know it, check it out here:

...and just like Nutella and Ranch Doritos, it turned out just wonderful! I love this song so much! When they announced a tour, I wasn't sure what to expect. But I got the chance to go to the concert in Dallas, so that's what I did. Honestly, I was a little scared that Macklemore and Ke$ha would be on stage together all the time. I had no idea how this could turn out. I was really really looking forward to see the Mack (bucket list!), but would Ke$ha ruin it?

Let me tell you: It worked.

Macklemore was on stage for about 90 minutes - performing his biggest hits and some of the gems that don't get much attention on radio stations. It was AMAZING! Everything I wished for and then some! He is just such an entertainer. An entertainer with meaningful lyrics. Can it get any better? I've had the time of my life.

So after Macklemore left, there was a break of about 30 minutes, they changed the stage setup, and then Ke$ha came on. Let me tell you, she started a PARTAAAY at the Dos Equis Pavillion! The crowd went crazy and everyone had a blast. Even as someone who was there mainly for Macklemore, I still enjoyed her show. My highlight was though, when HE came back on stage, and they performed "Good Old Days" together. Goosebumps. For years.

Due to my old job in DVD production and just being a concert lover, I have seen tons of bands in my 36 years on this planet. And tons of crowds. This one definitely made my top 10! Artists AND audience! It was a great mix of Macklemore and Ke$ha fans. I haven't seen such a wonderful mix of folks in a while. Accepting, open minded, loving, tipsy, gay pride, glitter, hipsters... A day to remember!

I wish somebody would have told me babe
That some day, these will be the good old days
All the love you won't forget
And all these reckless nights you won't regret
'Cause someday soon, your whole life's gonna change
You'll miss the magic of the good old days...
