Things I'm too German for // Today: Prom.

I'm living in the USA for a little over a year now. I still experience stuff I really don't understand, almost every day. I guess it was just "prom" season, because my Facebook timeline was full of pictures of people and their cousins going to a prom.

Some of these pictures made me think though: Are these KIDS really going to prom? Or are they going to work. At night. At a certain part of town? Geez, if some of these were my daughters, I would lock them up until they turn 21!!! How can a mom be ok with her daughter dress (or not dress?) like "an exotic dancer", or let's face it: a prostitute? Some girls in the red light district in Amsterdam have more sense of fashion. Seriously.

I mean, dressing inappropriate for your age is one thing. But posing like a Pussy Cat Doll is another thing. Combine these 2, and you can see me speechless...

Are there any classy proms out there? Or does it always rather look like a bad-taste-Moulin-Rouge party with pimps around?
