THE HEARSTS – a really interesting dynasty from the american newspaper magnet to the fashion icon today
You might think - what does the Hearst family have do with fashion or art?
William Randolph Hearst was source of inspiration for the lead character in Orson Welles “Citizen Kane”. His palatial estate, HEARST CASTLE, near San Simeon, California, on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, was donated by the Hearst Corporation to the state of California in 1957, and is now a State Historical Monument and a National Historic Landmark, open for public tours. It is an AMAZING estate!!!
Patty Hearst, who´s William Randolph Hearst´s granddaughter, gained notoriety in 1974 when, following her kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), she ultimetaly joined her captors in furthering their cause. The Misfits Song “She” was based on her and her actions during a bank robbery according to a band friend. ("She walked out with empty arms, machine gun in her hand, She is good and she is bad, no one understands, She walked in in silence, Never spoke a word, She's got a rich daddy, She's her daddy's girl").
Last but not last i wanna mention LYDIA HEARST. For me she is a Fashion Icon and a Topmodel. I love her style!!
The 2007 Michael Awards recognized her as their Model of the Year and she also was given the award of the Best International Supermodel in Madrid on the 12th of November 2008. She is a daughter of PATTY HEARST and Bernard Shaw.
Recently, she’s been hanging out with a group of young people who call themselves “the 2.0.” They include a giddy gaggle of creative aspirants such as photographer Nadav Benjamin and musician and nude Internet dude Cisco Adler, whom she has dated.
She describes her writing process this way: “I sit down and I write what I’m thinking and what I feel—it happens all at once, I never stop writing. Probably when I go home tonight, I’m going to open my computer and just start typing… I always envision myself being a Hemingway type—sitting in a dark corner with my glass of, I guess it would be, my glass of tequila and lime juice-- that’s how I do it.”
