This and that... but HEALTHY

Happy sunday!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I didn´t do much... Wanted to go kickboxing saturday morning, walked over to the dojo, just to find out it got canceled :o/

So I walked back home and stopped by at my sister´s place for a coffee. She came up with that GREAT idea to go to a spa. AND: she invited me since I´m kinda broke again (will this ever end? LOL)
We´ve had 4 really relaxing hours.... Sauna, steam bath... I felt sooooo good afterwards!

This is where we went:

Lately I´m trying to live a more healthy lifestyle. And: I feel so much better!
A huge step for me was, to drink less coffee. I used to have about 6-10 cups a day. Now I just have ONE (2 max.!) in the morning. That´s it. At work I just have tea now (ginger & lemon, green tea, chamomile...). I never thought it would change anything, but I have much more energy!

Eating: I´m trying to eat more clean. In a nutshell, eating clean is the practice of eating whole, natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. An easy way to remember if a food is clean is: "if man made it, don't eat it."

A person that eats clean generally practices the following:
  • Eliminates refined sugar
  • Cooks healthy meals
  • Packs healthy meals
  • Makes healthy choices when dining out
  • Drinks a lot of water
  • Eats 5-6 small meals per day
  • Eliminates alcoholic beverages (or significantly limits it)
  • Always eats breakfast
I´m not a breakfast person, so that´s a tough part for me... The healthy cooking is fun though. And it is really relaxing to get home after a long and stressful day at work and start chopping veggies and read recipes and cook. My fave meal (as you could probably see in my last post) is baked Hokkaido... It is easy, quick and tastes soooo good!
All you need is a small Hokkaido pumpkin. Cut it in slices and lay it on a baking plate. Cut some onions and put them on there, too. Drip a little bit of oil (I´m using soy oil over here) on each slice, a bit salt, pepper and cumin. Put it in the oven for about 30 minutes at around 200°C (about 390F). DONE! Yummmmmmmmy!!

Raw - ready to be baked ;o)
Done!

Besides eating healthier, I work out more, too. But I´ll let you know about my workouts in my next post :o)

Have a great sunday night!!!

xoxo
