At first it felt good. Not HAVING to go anywhere, not knowing anbody when I left the house and walked around downtown.
But after a while, I felt really lonely. Darn lonely! I have to admit, I´m not the "regular" woman. I hate talking on the phone. I rather have a nice video call on Yahoo or Skype. But somehow my friends from back home are not really into that... Plus no "interactive" chat can replace a nice conversation with a friend while having tons of coffee.
So after a couple of weeks I joined a martial arts club and took kickboxing classes. The people there were really cool, but somehow way too different to hang out and do stuff outside the dojo.
I was surfing the internet, joined websites to find friends. I´ve met 2 or 3 that way, but my best football buddy left Germany for good a couple of months after we started hanging out. We still talked on Yahoo from time to time, but I missed having a beer, watching ESPN, talking about sports, having conversations face to face. I was pretty sad when my "only" friend left...
In January I met my LOVE M on the inerntet as well - and yes, it lead into a relationship! This man makes me unbelievably happy! He is indeed my friend. But still, I want a social life besides the relationship. I NEED a social life besides this relationship.
So when M´s mom was over here visiting, I took her to the "International Baptist Church" in Nuremberg. I went there for the first time with her. And I fell in love with these awesome people the minute I walked into the church!
The same day another girl walked in there for the first time. When asked for prayer requests, she asked for us to pray for her since she had an imporant german test coming up... She was so cheerful and funny! Hard not to like her right away!
So we exchanged numbers after meeting at church and bible class foe a couple of times.
Friday she came over to do M´s hair. We all had a drink, great and funny conversations. There it was: the social life! This night I went to bed really happy! Now I know I have someone around here to call and meet up with, when I´m not in the mood to talk to M about it, or to my family. Girl talk, ya know??!!
Tomorrow I´ll catch the train over to her place after work. She´s gonna cook dinner and we can finally talk about our better halfs! Girls night out! Man, I missed that! So far we have pretty much in common. And since she just moved over here a couple of months ago, too, I think we are both happy we found each other. I think I found a new friend!
I will let you guys know how our girls time went :o)
