After a successful first try of making my own grape jelly, and reading about homemade peanut butter on Chelsey´s blog (thepapermama.com), I decided to give that a try as well!
It is sooooo easy! Plus you know what´s inside your peanut butter. Leaving out all the sugar and additives makes it healthier than the stuff you can buy at the store.
What do you need you might ask? Peanuts and butter? Nope! Just plain peanuts and a wee bit of salt. That´s it! I bought a bag of peanuts, peeled them (it was a real adventure for me...why? read THIS post), roasted them in a pan and let them cool off.
Toss the peanuts into a food processor. Then process those peanuts until they are creamy. I have a tiny little food processor, so it took me about 10 minutes until I had a smooth peanut butter, I´ve tried it, and just as Chelsey suggests: put a little bit of salt in it. A little more processing, try again. PERFECT!!
If you store your peanut butter in a mason jar in the fridge, you can enjoy it up to 2 months! (I´m pretty sure my jar will be empty next week though...)
