I wish I was Angelina Jolie...

I bet you've heard it as well, since it's all over the news this morning: Angelina Jolie had a double masectomy. I was never jealous of her looks, her money, being with Brad Pitt or having the cutest bunch of kids. But today, I am jealous. I am jealous she has the money to feel a lot safer for the rest of her life.

My mom (1971)

No mother's day post on here? That is because my mom is an angel. She passed away when I was 14, leaving my dad with 5 kids behind. Breast cancer.
A few years later her mom, my grandma, passed away as well. Colon cancer.

I know I will never have the balls to have my DNA checked for that shitty cancer gene. I don't want to live my life knowing there is a time bomb ticking inside of me.

I just really wish I had the money to do what Angelina Jolie just did.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear this. Your mom looks absolutely beautiful, and I'm sure she's your guardian angel now.

I'm in a similar boat, since most of the women in my family end up with ovarian cancer. I definitely don't have the balls to see if the odds are in my favor lol.

  2. Sorry to hear about your mother :(
I believe each of us is affected by Cancer, one way or another. My mother is a cancer survivor, too. And yes, we are all not that rich to go get our genes tested!!!

  3. I'm sorry to hear about your Grandma and mother. My Nan too died of cancer, ovarian. On my other side, my nan died of dementia (or at least, that's what make her weak in the end).
I get scared about the ticking bomb, if there is one for me or not.

You're very brave for blogging about it.
