IKEA Parking Lot Fun

All over the internet you can see articles about couples breaking up at, or over IKEA. Or how IKEA destroys relationships. We've had this discussion 3 years ago already, but it is still up to date. It might be the different taste in style, or money.

But there is one thing couples in the USA won't experience as often as couples in Germany though: The IKEA parking lot fight. Actually, this is the most fun part about going to IKEA in Deutschland for me. I sure do my shopping, grab one or 2 hotdogs and a soda at the exit, and make my way to the car. But then I sit down, wait, watch, and laugh.

There is one very important information or fact about Germany, or Europe, you will have to know: We don't do trucks over there. No pickups, no big ass cars. We do small. Like VW Golf, Jetta, or Passat small. Or a Ford Focus. Maybe a little soccer mom van, but that's it. And if you take your tiny car to IKEA to get a whole new bedroom set, that's when shit hits the fan.

I will never understand what is going on in peoples' minds. Is it the shopping fever that makes them forget the dimensions of their car? Are they really thinking they will fit a kingsize mattress and 2 chests into a Golf?

I guess you can picture me now, sitting there, eating, watching the world end.

Or in this case:
Relationships end.
Boxes being smashed.
Stuff being returned.
Names being called.
"I told you so"s over and over....

Oh the joys!

So if you ever visit Germany, don't forget to stop by at IKEA, grab some snacks, and watch some breakdowns! You might even want to give it a try over here in the US - I mean hey, a Kia Sorento can't hold a whole kitchen as well!

  1. Wow, I had no idea so much was going on at IKEA! I used to have one, but it was an hour away so I rarely went. Now I don't even know if there's one around here. I've never stopped to pay attention to what was going on in the parking lot. Interesting you don't have trucks over there! lol
