I've had the chance to ask Em a few questions, and sure will share the video with you as well. Check everything out below!
How was it working with DJ Tom Colontonio?
I had a great experience working with Tom. For me, it was incredibly exciting to see one of my songs transformed to a completely different style. You probably won’t hear the original tracks of my songs playing in an EDM night club so to see it fitting in an area like that, which relates closely to my age group and demographic, was awesome.
Which artist is your idol - or influences you the most?
Adele and Sara Bareilles are my two biggest inspirations. I found that Adele became a huge confidence builder for me when I was an awkward teen hiding my voice from friends. She is an amazingly strong and genuine woman. To sing such sultry, confident songs transformed me into a stronger person. Sara Bareilles impacted me greatly on an emotional level with music. Her songs showed me the power behind a simple piano melody with lyrics. You don’t need to belt a song to get your message across. Paying attention to the subtle details and allowing emotions to flow through is what connects us all to music.
What was your favorite gig so far?
My favorite gig so far would have to be my trip to Virginia to film for XFINITY Sessions. I sang five of my songs acoustically. It was the first big show I had ever done for TV. The next day, I opened for The Tenors’ show, which was an amazing experience for me. I met so many wonderful people who I am happy to now call my close friends. My episode for The Sessions is currently airing nationwide on XFINITY on Demand.
I always love to perform for the Bay Area crowd. On my wish list of favorite venues are Hotel Cafe,
The Troubadour, and several more. The list could go on and on.
