Sleeplessness, the Power of a Friend, and Pill Talk

Lately a couple of pretty horrible things happened in my life. I don't want to go into detail, but I am pretty sure I have reached my breaking point. And lost my faith for a few. Again.

Ever since then, sleep is an issue. Again. I was never a "healthy" sleeper. Not only according to my Fitbit sleep tracking. But according to anyone being around me while I sleep. They tell me I move so much in my sleep, it's obvious why I'm waking up feeling as if I got hit by a truck.

Lately it is worse. I wake up crying, and my sheets are WET from sweating. The only time I feel alright and kind of give in to deep sleep, is when my friend stays with me. He is there when I cry, jump, or panic in my sleep, and just grabs me and holds me tight until I fall asleep again.
I go to counseling every other week ever since that incident a few months ago, and I have people I can talk to. But it still doesn't help me sleep. My doctor prescribed me some meds.

But: Is numbing your emotions and feelings the right thing to do? Isn't my body and soul working things out right now?

I feel weird taking pills overall lately. It starts with a headache. Your body is showing you something is wrong. Maybe you are dehydrated. Maybe you are tired. Maybe your hormones are off. Maybe you worked too much. I think a headache is a sign for you to stop whatever you are doing, lay down, and relax.

Heartburn. Heck - you ate fried chicken. So maybe that's your body telling you to stop eating that greasy crap! Or you are very very mad, and that's giving you the heartburn and acid reflux. Relax. Eat healthy.

Muscle pain after working out - you are either just sore, or you overdid it. Look back, see what it could be, and act accordingly. If you overdid it, rest for a day or 2. If you are "just" sore, do a moderate workout.

This applies to a whole lot of signs your body is giving you. Don't be too quick shutting it off. Numbing it. Your body is a very smart piece of equipment. Listen to it!

And regarding my insomnia... Right now I am trying to relax, read, do my crafts in the evening, avoid TV and touching my smartphone after I get off work... And most of all, REALLY cherish every night I'm not by myself.
