COVID-19 Self Distancing Diary - Day 4 // A Productive Day!

Date: 3/21/2020
Got up at: honestly no idea!
Got dressed: Yes!
Started to work: Never. It's the weekend. Much needed.
Cups of coffee: 4-ish

I slept in today and feel pretty good. After some coffee and video game time, I finally worked on a little project I wanted to do for quite some time now. Since Justin inherited his granny's house and we've fixed up the bathroom, I took one of the drawers from the old vanity, ordered some super cure hair pin legs, and voila:

I did some pricing and researching at Home Depot, on eBay, and Amazon - and I found these were the best price and the quality is really good! The are super sturdy and available in several lengths. You can find them here:

I'm pretty happy with my new side table! I can put it to good use as a plant stand and it will probably give my salt lamp a new home, too.

Up next was another project I've been procrastinating for way too long.. I've gathered a pile of clothes that needed to be fixed. I got out my sewing machine and saved a bunch of items from the dumpster! Talking underwire bras - I mean, if you can fix them, don't throw away something that's around $60 a piece... Everything looks like new, and I feel pretty good about this :)

Since one of our agencies had to close, a few of the employees started a Facebook group to stay in touch. I used to have my office at that agency before moving to the admin building, so I still have my heart and roots there, and I'm honored they added me to this group.
At one point I remembered one of our older employees who is not on Facebook, and did a check in with everyone if they know if they needed something.
After a few comments I saw the need of a few items, so I went through my house and pantry, and packed a little care package with a loaf of bread, southern style hash browns, toilet paper, lucky charms cereal bars, yummy oatmeal, and a few other knick knacks. Since they live just down the road from me I went and dropped it off on their porch, and I kid you not: 10 minutes later I received a phone call, full of thankfulness, love and emotions to thank me. "We all have to stick together!" - and yes, we do.

These days it's the little things that count. Check on your elderlies. Check on you friends with health issues. Check on your neighbors and co-workers. Share what you have. And I promise the feeling you'll get in your heart and soul is worth so much more than a roll of toilet paper during the Rona times ;o)

  1. Aliya G - okay a couple things. Your blog is awesome. The side table is cute as can be! Do you see a little face with a mustache? I do! You are so handy around the house. Nothing like projects to keep your hands busy and mind content. When you busted out the sewing machine? And you are right, bras for us well-endowed ladies are not cheap. Lastly, I know your Mama is just beaming right now; so proud of the woman you are!
