A mini vacation, colorful elephants, booze, and tears

Hello and happy Monday!

For me it didn't really start "happy" - I was actually crying at the office already. And nope, it wasn't because my San Diego Chargers lost last night to our worst enemy, the Raiders.

I took a week off last week and went to visit family from Thursday till Sunday. It was nice, but it's good to sleep in my own bed again. And I sure missed Coco cat.

What made me REALLY mad though was, that my boss hit me up me EVERY SINGLE DAY while I was on vacation. This is an absolute no-go! If it would have been because of something important, I would have been 100% okay with it. But contacting me during my vacation time just to ask how many commercial invoices he needs to attach to a shipping to Switzerland is not cool. At all.
And this was just one of the freaking reasons he thought he could bother me in my well deserved time off.

FYI: This was my first "vacation" time since March. I am tired. I needed rest. I needed to be away from office and all this stress. And yes, I needed to be away from my boss as well. Usually we get along really great, but he can be exhausting. Very exhausting.

Besides taking care of stuff for my job, I did some nice and relaxing stuff as well:

I read these books (yes, all of them)

Vacation Recap Part I // Johnny Cash

Hello there :)

Jet-lag is no fun! I was suffering BAD all last week, so excuse my lack of posting. I got back Monday in the afternoon, and went back to work Tuesday, 8:30 AM. Not the best idea I've ever had, but I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my lovely M! I can't wait to have him back over here again, soon.

My time in Arkansas was awesome! What I did? Most of all: I ate. A lot. Some might say: too much.
M's mom doesn´t really cook, so we went to a Buffet almost every day. And I literally ate all I could eat! And since it was my vacation, I didn't even CARE! I didn't count calories, I didn't move a lot. I was lazy. And it was great!

I have never been to Arkansas before, and I must say it`s a lovely little GREEN state! Besides all the eating I did a whole lot of sightseeing as well. Little Rock was wonderful! A small city, but a lot of history. I will share some of my favorite places on here during the next days, since I took tons of pictures.

One rainy day, M and I decided to drive to Pine Bluff, to go to the mall. The mall was bad, besides the Popcorn and my manicure. But on the way there, I saw this sign:

You know me - I LOVE country music! I LOVE Johnny Cash! I screamed and made M drive back for about a mile so I could take a picture of the sign.
Back at Camden, we showed the photo to his mom, and she didn't even know, Mr Cash was born just a couple of miles away from her hometown! A small little sign, that made my day. Kingsland is ummmmm not really nice though, so I understand why Johnny Cash moved away.

Gotta go back to work now, but I will keep posting some more nice sightseeing pics this week!

Have you ever been to Arkansas? What's a must see for me when I go there again?

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Vacation Recap // Childhood in 2 boxes

I finally make it to tell you guys a little about my time back "home-home"! I left Saturday morning and took the train to Heilbronn (HeilBronx...), where my little sister lives. She picked me up at the train station and we went straight to Morbach.

As soon as we arrived, we started going through every single room in my dad´s house and packed up stuff for the flea market the next day. We found quiet a lot!

Our good old neighbor, Padre Bernardo, took us girls to dinner at a chinese restaurant that night, PLUS for a dessert to the italian ice bar. Yummy!! After a little break at the house we went to the bowling alley with my sister´s boyfriend and 2 of their friends. As you can probably see in the pictures from the previous "Wordless Wednesday", we had a blast!

We came home around midnight, set the alarm for 5:30 AM the next morning and went to sleep....

Yep, short night! So in the early morning, we packed my sisters car with all the flea market stuff and headed to Trier. After a little adventure including an almost empty tank plus tons of closed gas stations and a self service pump eating ATM cards.... (GEEZ!!) we made it to the flea market, met my brother`s girlfriend and built up our stand. As soon as we parked the car, people started going through our boxes and bags! Crazy! So the first item was sold after about 5 minutes ;oD! The first few hours we were freezing our butts off.... And then the sun came out and at the end of the day I had the shape of my stunners burned into my face:

Yep, it hurt! After 10 hours on he flea market we made about 100 Euro and the car was almost empty on our way back. Pretty succesful! We were soooooo tired when we got home, I just made it to watch the first half of the Chargers game and went to bed early...

The next day I went through the last 2 remaining boxes with my personal stuff. When I moved out, I REALLY moved out and didn´t leave much behind. After throwing some stuff away and adding some Tupperware plus a keyboard and speakers for my laptop and a pretty awesome old lamp from my grandpa (THIS amazing piece will get its own post!),
I wrapped up the boxes and mailed them off to my office. Weird feeling... But since I was carpooling on my way back to Bavaria, this was a pretty smart move!

Tuesday night I went to Trier, celebrated my dad´s birthday with most of the family, went to a bar later that night and met some friends. I had a wonderful time!

I will definitely go back to Morbach again before the house gets completely cleared out by that company. I was born in that house and spent 16 years living there. So tough times and especially emotional times ahead!
