Get Ready To Get Cozy: Arm Knitting!

It's fall y'all! Ever since I got back from Germany last week, southern Arkansas has been cool-ish, grey, and rainy. I love spring and summer, but my favorite part about fall and winter is that you don't need any excuse to stay home and be cozy. If you are on Instagram and/or Pinterest, I'm sure you've seen one of those super cozy looking blankets:

Even if you are not super crafty, I promise you'll be able to arm knit one of those Instagram worthy, cuddly, super soft chunky blankets yourself.

My Sewing Corner // Weekend Recap LinkUp

Hello and Happy Monday!

How was your weekend? I am finally able to do more than just being knocked out by the flu. M came come from the Police Academy Friday afternoon, and our first point on the weekend schedule was a stop at Walmart. NO GOOD IDEA. AT ALL.

Let me tell you this: Road rage at Walmart exists. Blame it on my 7 day quarantine, not seeing anyone but the doctor and the neighbor who took me there -> I was about to freak out. People!!! It was overwhelming and every single person was making me nuts. Blocking every alley either with their huge carts or with their huge behinds. Or both. Not paying attention. Not giving a sh*t.

I got so mad, I had to leave M with the cart so he could pay and I was waiting at the car. At home I went straight to the couch and my cuddle blanket, and dozed off, trying to forget the evil Walmart experience.

Saturday was better though. I finally managed finishing my long planned project: My little sewing area. I started at the dinner table, but it was a little irritating moving the sewing machine all the time. So I came up with this little idea and here is the result:

I just moved out MALM chests a little apart, went to Home Depot to get a board ($10), put some ConTact paper on it to make it look nicer, et voilá! I love it! My little sewing paradise! I don't have to move around anymore and can clutter everything the way I want to. I guess you noticed my huge bag of scrap fabric?

Oh and I guess you saw the hint HERE. On my shopping spree at Little Rock I got another sugar scull. A big one. I love it!

Weekend Recap Linkup // Sewing Projects

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend? I've worked a lot, because there was the "Music Fest" downtown El Dorado. I didn't get to spent that much time with my husband cause of that, which made me a little sad.
Since he is at the police academy now Monday thru Friday, we try to cherish our weekends and having a whole bunch of quality time. But this weekend it just didn't really work out.

We already know we will go to Little Rock next weekend, so that is definitely something to look forward to!

Since I have trouble sleeping lately, I get up during the night a lot, reading or working on some crafts projects. I just recently bought my very first own sewing machine! I'm super happy with it!

I've learned some basic sewing stuff back at high school, and my mom used to show me a few things as well. But I'm not lying if I teel you: It's been at least 17 years since the last time I was using a sewing machine! So I have to get back into everything.

Here are my 2 first "real" little projects. Beginner level of course.

The Buttercup Bag

It's safe to say: This is a Pinterest classic!I never thought I would be able to make something like this. But the pattern is very easy, and Rae made a BRILLIANT job putting together the instructions. I did a "light" version - as you can tell the magnetic snap and/or buttons are missing. But I will definitely make some more, now that I know I can do it!
Please check out Rae's blog and the tutorial HERE!

Pillow Case

I like it, M hates it! I did a combination of sewing & knitting. My mother in law gave me 3 balls of different mesh yarn. Since I am not a huge fan of the way these scarves turn out, I wanted to try something different. I like the neon colors on the dark grey!
It's a 14"x 14" - feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you would like to buy it!

Barn Sale // Weekend Recap LinkUp

Hello and Happy Monday!

This weekend flew by... Now it's Monday again, which means: back to work!

Friday evening I was finishing all my crochet projects, since I headed off to Camden, AR, at 6 am Saturday morning. My mother-in-law and I shared a booth at the Barn Sale. She does a lot of sewing - mainly throws and aprons, plus a little bit of machine embroidery. I am trying to get her on Etsy or at least Facebook, cause her stuff is awesome! But it's still work in progress, so wish me luck ;o)

I took a few pictures, but they don't really show how beautiful it was. All vendors did a great job! Beautiful things EVERYWHERE! Oh and of course FOOD! The kettle corn booth was right across from ours, so that yummy smell was around us all day.
I treated myself to a big corn dog and some fresh squeezed lemonade. Pure yummyness!

It was a wonderful day! Sunny, warm and not too hot. I've sold a whole lot of stuff. Mainly my Halloween items, but the top seller was the Mario Mushroom, for sure! I decided to add them to my Etsy now, so feel free to order! Use the coupon code "MARIORULES" for 15% until October 31st! E-Mail me for custom orders.

$1 DIY // Yarn Container (Cat-Proof)

Today I want to share a easy and cheap DIY with you. I love to crochet! I love my cat! But these 2 things don't get along very well. There are trazillions of times when I came home to something like this:

naughty kitty

There must be a way to store your yarn so it's cat-safe, AND you can easily access it when you want to continue your crafts.

I was cleaning and when I was about to throw away an empty container of wipes, I stopped and looked at it more closely. I did buy one of these fancy (and costly) "Yarntainers" not too long ago. And I realized: It is so easy to turn this $1 wipe container into a small yarn container as well! I got started right away:
