The Arches National Park Looks Nothing Like The License Plate

Road trips and cross country traveling must be one of my favorite things to do. I've visited a bunch of our beautiful National Parks (and adding more to the list every year), and enjoyed my time and the scenery there! When designer and illustrator Amber Share discovered that there are 1-star ratings for each and every single one of the 62 parks, she decided to to illustrate each park along with a hand lettered 1-star review as a way to put a positive and fun spin on such a negative mindset.

If you are a business owner dealing with negative reviews on Yelp, Facebook, Google etc. - this post might brighten up your day a little when you see that nature (or God's creation) literally has to deal with this, too. Isn't it ridiculous?

Well, I've picked a few of my favorites to share with you on here, but please make sure to head over to Amber's website to see all of them! You can even order prints, mugs, and cards with your favorite designs.

New Year, New Home // Photowall Sweden Review

Happy Monday! It's finally February. And let me tell you - it's been a busy January for me, especially the past week: Just a few things that happened: I quit my part time security job (not enough time), finished remodeling a house (call me Chip Gaines! Or Joanna Gaines!), moved out of the apartment (hallelujah!) and into said house (YAY!), annnnnnd I already finished my taxes. Go me!

(I was provided with a free product for my review. All opinions are my own. I would never endorse a product I don't like or believe in. If you use links in this post, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Full Disclosure)

Now it's unpacking time! I went through everything before moving, and decluttered quite a lot. So it shouldn't be too bad. The only room in my new house that is 98% done is my bedroom. Can you tell I love the way it turned out? Thanks to Photowall.com!

Don't miss my 25% discount code on the bottom of this post!

Dance our Cares Away, Worry's for Another Day. Let the Music Play, Down...in Meridian, MS!

Raise your hand if you watched at least one of the following shows: Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock...
I have a feeling at least 98% of my readers did. And there is one gentleman, who is responsible for all the puppets and making all of our childhoods way more fun: Jim Henson!

I never knew Jim Henson was born in Mississippi. Did you? Bam, we already learned something. And there is a lot more to learn and see: The MAX in Meridian, MS is hosting the Jim Henson exhibition "Imagination Unlimited" now through May 2nd 2019, so if you are anywhere near or already in the Ark-La-Miss area, you should not miss this gem. Why? Several reasons. I mean, you can see the original Kermit the Frog puppet from 1978, besides more than 20 other original puppets, character sketches, storyboards, costumes and so much more. This exhibition will be a magical experience for adults AND kids!

(This is a paid review. All opinions are my own. I would never endorse a product I don't like or believe in.

(Wordless) Wednesday LinkUp // Little Rock is More Than Bullets

Downtown Little Rock AR, Mural

I took this picture downtown Little Rock, AR. Right across the street from the building where 25 people were shot when gunfire erupted at Power Ultra Lounge during a concert for rapper Finese 2Tymes in the early morning hours of July 1.
Luckily no one got killed, but as of today there are 42 homicides in Little Rock in 2017.

This has to stop. I want to see more art, more joy, more culture, and more love in Little Rock again.

Ideas for Turning a Small Dorm into a Great Space

Tips and Tricks brought to you by ModularClosets.com

The average dorm room is about 110 square feet. Assuming it’s a shared space too, that’s not a huge footprint in which to spend time studying, sleeping and getting ready for the party down the hall!

Dorm rooms, as they come, are pretty bare. A bed, maybe a desk and a closet. That’s about it. The same can be said for a room for rent in a house that is leased to students. We’re not talking the expansive spaces of Mom and Dad’s house!

url

A few excellent ways to MAXIMIZE the space in a dorm room

  • Get rid of clutter! It’s your enemy. Clutter will make any small space seem even smaller. Find ways to store all the bits and bobs that you have laying around—stackable clear plastic bins, for example—are ideal. Make sure every item you bring into your dorm room has a ‘home’.
  • To keep important papers and reminders handy, put up a magnetic board on the wall near your bed. This way, anything that you need to have at the ready is right there for the taking, but isn’t in the way. Keep it small, as too many things all over the wall CAN make a small space look even smaller.
  • If you have a small desk, a wall organizer is a perfect way to keep all of your studying and snacking essentials handy but off the flat surface of your desk. Keep that important desk space free for a lamp, books and your computer, with all your other needs in easy reach.
  • It’s easier to keep all your papers and notes organized with a rolling file cart. You can roll it under your desk when you’re not sitting there, so it’s out of the way, and roll it out when it’s time to get down to hitting the books!
  • If you’re allowed to make additions to your closet space, a well designed, easy to install DIY closet system is just the perfect way to ensure that you can find each accessory, bag, belt and sock, quickly and easily.
  • Outside of the closet itself, extra shelving is a good idea to keep books and papers, as well as those clear plastic bins mentioned in the first point, tidy but still accessible.

KARINFRAIDENRAIJ Lookbook FW17

DIVERSITY

All times nature has been forming human cultures – sun, wind, water and fire are painting the sky and drawing life.
In a melting pot of globalization individuality seems more and more miscel- laneous, on the other hand new options are coming up ... the skill simply is to recognize new enrichments without forgetting about the long standing.

Since years I am emphasizing the advantages of the classic Inka fibers in my urban fashion collections: camelide wool not only is of premium quality but furthermore represents an attractive material for variations in haptic perceptions, surface textures or kinds of fabrics.

In the actual line silhouettes are even more feminine whether oversized, rough textured, or finely woven and bodyhugging. Precious ponchos made from fulled felt or fine jacquard, oversized cardigans, romantic jersey dresses or thinly knitted classic shirts.

Ruston Downtown Art Crawl

If you live in southern Arkansas, don't be offended by what I'm about to say. As always on this blog, it's my expat point of view. I've traveled a lot, seen different places.

It's hard to put into words, but this area is not the place to be if you enjoy arts, design and variety. It starts with the food, and pretty much affects every area from there to "scene". I keep bringing up the German saying "Was der Bauer nicht kennt, frisst er nicht" - which translates to something like "The Redneck don't know it. The Redneck don't eat it."

It's fun and great if you are into (duck) hunting, camouflaged clothes, fried food, 4-wheelers and maybe fishing. But besides that, there's nothing much to do.

Mural in Ruston LA
...they even have a wonderful Mural.

For a while I felt pretty lost and isolated round here. But that was only until the day I stopped in Ruston, Louisiana, for the first time. Maybe it's because it's a college town (Louisiana Tech. Go Bulldogs!) - but from day one I felt more home there than I've ever felt in the Arkansas town I live now. You see STYLE, different people from different nations, art, music, restaurants that don't throw everything in the fryer... So over the last years, Ruston became my place to be if I don't want to drive for hours when I'm in need of a time out and creative input.

I follow a whole bunch of businesses round there on Facebook to stay in the loop, so I was very exited to read about the "Ruston Downtown Art Crawl" not too long ago.

"A community event organized by the art related businesses of downtown Ruston. Stroll through beautiful downtown and enjoy new work by local artisans and craftsmen.

Participating locations include:
Gallery 203 and Studio 203
Fine Line Supply Co.
Cotton Top Print Shop
Trenton Interiors
Main Street Exchange Occasional Shop"

So May 12th I packed up one of my friends, and we drove the 45 minutes to check it out. We've had a wonderful time strolling around Ruston, inhaling art - and a beer and Margarita at the Ponchatoulas to end the day stuffed and happy. If you have the chance to visit Ruston one day, don't even think twice and pack your bags already! This quote sums up this town. Small, but full of surprises.

"And though she be but little, she is fierce." —Helena (A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare)

Warning: Picture overload is about to follow. Enjoy!

Deep Ellum // Murals, Art & Entertainment

Most of you guys know I work for a gym full time. 2 weeks ago I was sent to Dallas to capture the "Les Mills Super Q" event, together with some of our instructors. The event was Saturday and the crew stayed with me until Sunday. I've had a social media conference lined up downtown Dallas Tuesday, so I just stayed there and took one day PTO plus the Wingate by Wyndham in Arlington gave me shelter in form of a BEAUTIFUL room Sunday night.

Deep Ellum Mural

Ever since I moved to this small town, I yearn creativity, variety and big city life. I am definitely not made for living in a small town. So Monday I slept in, and headed to "Deep Ellum" right after breakfast. It was the perfect day to stroll around. It was sunny, warm, and the colors of the murals were poppin! If you've never heard of "Deep Ellum" and the history of this neighborhood, I'd really suggest you check out this website HERE.

Berlin in summer is a must. Once the city awakes from its winter hibernation, it is more vibrant and intoxicating than ever before: cozy summer spots on lakes or in the park, inspiring museums and galleries, new and trendy places for lunch & dinner, or night clubs where you can party until dawn – Berlin is the whole world in a single city.

Out now, the Berlin Inspires City Guide Summer Edition shows every facet of summer in Berlin. Apart from hot newcomer places and Berlin classics, it has interviews with locals who reveal their personal “hidden champions.”
