Living in the Natural State

We basically went from winter straight into summer here in southern Arkansas. Well - with a few tornados in between... Right now I'm sitting outside, enjoying the sunshine, upper 80s and (as of now) a nice breeze and low humidity. This will change soon though. Summertime is super hot and muggy round here. I really enjoy the long sunny seasons though! As long as you have a bottle of water in your backpacks, you are good to go to enjoy everything the Natural State has to offer.

Happy Friday!

Geez, I'm glad you can't see me right now.I'm running on less than four hours of sleep, and I can't wait to go home and back to bed around 2pm today. Yay!

Things I plan doing this weekend: sleep (d'oh), work security tomorrow night, and a divorce party/Dinner/Movies Sunday. Netflix and online shopping are for sure in the mix as well. This nasty fall weather that hit us over night makes me want to cuddle up at home and just leaving my bed/couch if there's no other way to get things done!

Happy "Fashion Friday" - and look what just launched yesterday: The new VANS x Karl Lagerfeld Collection! I love pretty much every single item, but my favorites would be the leather backpack, and the slip-ons with all the little Karls on them.

   

I've always been a huge fan of Karl Lagerfeld's eponymous monochromatic styling.

A Cool Surprise this Morning!

This morning I woke up to 60F. What in the world? This is still southern Arkansas, so I was caught by surprise, and even the weatherman said it's uncommon to have these temperatures this early during the year.

I really love the long summers/short winters round here. It's definitely nicer than the weather in Germany, even though it took me about 2 years to get used to the humidity. I always explain it as "open the dish washer mid-circle and stick your head in it". Cause that's what it feels like. For real.


During the in-between seasons, you can see me wearing something like the outfit above a lot.

After features like Snoop Dogg, Stormzy and Desiigner, the third "adidas Originals | ORIGINAL is never finished" spot takes it to another level with 21 Savage, Playboi Carti, Young Thug, James Harden, and the newly-signed Kendall Jenner.



While it is obvious that the spot was influenced by Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man and a kind of baroque look, I yet have to figure out what to think of it. What I do know is, that it's a nicely put together piece of art featuring radical re-interpretation of the much used track “My Way” popularized by Frank Sinatr.

His & Her Closets, After the I Do

There’s an old joke that says: “What’s mine is hers and what’s hers is hers…”, the implication being that, after the ceremony, women gain ownership of everything, including the closet space. But that’s so 1970s… These days, men’s fashion is a billion dollar industry and men are paying more attention to what they wear, and how they wear it. 

So in the interest of sharing ‘half and half’, and starting a marriage on the right foot with the right shoe on, equality in marriage means equal everything, including closet space.

Merging two closets into one means it’s time to toss a few items

In order to get two closets worth of clothes and shoes to fit into one, perhaps bigger but nonetheless single closet, the key is to triage. It’s time to go through each closet and decide what stays, what goes and what might need to go into storage for a little while. The dress you wore to your high school prom? You might want to toss or store that. The suit that you wore to a wedding last month? Keep. The jeans you were hoping would fit again one day? Toss. Your lucky espadrilles? Keep.

In the actual line silhouettes are even more feminine whether oversized, rough textured, or finely woven and bodyhugging. Precious ponchos made from fulled felt or fine jacquard, oversized cardigans, romantic jersey dresses or thinly knitted classic shirts.

Happy Friday y'all!

It's been a couple of rough weeks for this chick right here. I have no idea what's wrong lately, but I'm constantly stressed, overworked, tired, and overwhelmed. Add insomnia and tons of tears here and there to this picture, and BAM. All this results in huge bags under my eyes. Three layers of concealer? Won't work. You know what kinda does the trick? Wearing caps. It slightly shadows the bags. But hey, there will be brighter days again! Well - I hope. Until then - hand me dem hats!

Speaking of... then there are awesome days in between. Like when you get sent free stuff to sport from a member of one of your all time favorite hip hop group "Bone Thugs N Harmony". If you don't know who that is, we can't be friends. And you are probably super young. The video below was uploaded on YouTube 10 years ago - just saying.
