Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend? I've had some work to do and a CPR class Saturday, but got in some much needed sleep as well. Saturday afternoon/evening I spent on my couch reading a whole book.

My friend suggested it to me, cause his friend suggested it to him. None of them actually finished it up till now, so that should have made me think already :oD
But since the friend of the friend's father in law actually read it and said it's some good stuff... Hey. I bought it. Here's my "review".

"I was excited cause I give a fuck about way too many things and people, and I was hoping to learn this and that.
It came in today, and it took me about 5 hrs to read the whole thing.
I came to the conclusion that the 2 reviews below could have been written by me:

Weekend Recap LinkUp // RELAXING!

The picture above sums up my weekend. I was exhausted and felt a little ill, so I was mainly watching German TV (Shopping Queen), and Sunday I did a spa day which was super relaxing. Before going into the sauna, I was using the "Madam C.J. Walker Brassica Seed Oil" which was in my last FIERCE VoxBox.



I usually refuse to blog/write a review about anything that is being sent to me in a sample size. But I will have to write a review about this hair oil! Not only was Anni relaxed after the sauna, my hair was relaxed and very shiny as well! So stay tuned for the review!

Black Bayou Lake, LA // Weekend Recap LinkUp

Happy Monday everyone!

How was your weekend? I will give it a try and bring the "Weekend Recap" back to life, so feel free to link up your posts below.

My weekend was so and so. Ups, and downs. Saturday I gave the local Mayhaw Festival another chance. Ummmm... well... It was alright. But I might skip it next year. It felt good hanging out with my German friend though, since I miss speaking German and I have a slight feeling I am slowly loosing my native tongue.

I took off again this morning, and visited the Black Bayou Lake National Park.

Let me tell you: I've had a WONDERFUL time! I actually planned on going to Little Rock and do a hike somewhere on the trails up there. But since it is so warm and sunny already, I gave Google a try and found this lake not even 1.5 hrs away.

If you ask me, Louisiana is like Arkansas' cooler sibling.

While Arkansas, to me, feels more Hillbilly-esque, Louisiana has this rad coolness. More class. Might be the swamps. Or the Alligators. Or all the French stuff. I don't know. But as soon as I cross the border, I feel a little better. Almost relieved. I mean hello? They sell alcohol on Sundays. #NuffSaid

  

I have spent almost 3 hours walking the boardwalk, looking around the visitor center, and taking pictures. I saw a whole bunch of creatures, like snakes, a red headed lizard, different birds.... It was even a little creepy walking around all alone, hearing a "SPLASH" a couple of feet away, wishing or hoping it was - well - not an alligator. Secretly I was hoping to see one though.

      

  

And my wish came true! I was actually on my way back to the car, when a gentleman pointed me into a certain direction. There it was. My first real alligator. Wildlife. Not dead. Not in a zoo. It was breathtaking!

Hello and HAPPY MONDAY! 
Are you ready for Christmas? I am. 
And we just got the most relieving message in a long time: Our HUGE box with Christmas presents for literally everyone in Germany, Family and extended Family, made it after being lost for 6 long weeks. Friday I even filed a claim, since the tracking stopped right here in El Dorado. Well, thanks to the smartpants who missed to scan it! Biiiiiastard! But now it arrived, and my sister will hopefully be able to pick it up at M's friend's house. Wowzers. I'm happy!!
Our weekend was full of football, relaxing, eating pizza, and oh I forgot, M got sworn in and is now officially a policeman! I'm super proud of him!
On the football note: Sorry for all you 49ers fans out there but DARN WHAT A GAME!!! Go Bolts! I was close to a heart attack watching the game, and ended up with a bloody hand and an accidentally knocked down Captain America picture. He is well though and my hand will heal. Just happy my team won. Whoop whoop.

Hello and Happy Monday!

I'm a little late getting this LinkUp live this week. I was working, and when I got home, M got the awesome news he got hired by the local Polics Department!! So we sure celebrated, and now we are about to get ready to go to his Christmas Party. Yep, we've got invited right away :oD! Great timing..

So now I will just have to stop writing for today, take a shower, and dress up for the party! Have a lovely Monday!

I am enjoying 4 days off in a row. Man, it feels great! I took Thursday night off to go and watch the Christmas Parade, and today I'm off, cause of M's graduation from the Police academy. I'm supre proud of him! He will have another job interview later today. Fingers crossed!

We will spend the day at his graduation, late lunch with the family afterwards. And tonight I will have to get some shopping done. Saturday I'm invited to a House Warming/Christmas party. I'm so excited!!! Finally something fun on my schedule! Sometimes it sucks that work and life is taking too much time out of your days... 

But now: Back to business!

Trip to St. Louis // Weekend Recap LinkUp

Good Morning and Welcome to a new week!

I have a serious case of sleep deficit, not really sure how to make it through this day. But: The reason WHY is worth it!

My husband is the bestestest when it comes to doing fun stuff. So this weekend he decided he will show me the Arch in St. Louis!! I've never been there, and it definitely is on my bucket list, so I was super excited!

We took off at 3am on Saturday. Very super duper early. The first stop was at the gas station, for some gas of course, and for tons of energy drinks.

The drive was very boring and first I thought Missouri looks like fresh out of a Vampire movie. Since it was foggy and cold, everything looked just plain grey and sad.



What I've quickly realized is all the German heritage though! There are so many businesses with German names! Around noon we've entered St. Louis. First thing I saw was the Anheuser-Busch brewery. Impressing! I want to go there next time! Then we drove past the "St. Louis Union Station" - BEAUTIFUL!! I saw the Cardinals stadium and the "Ballpark Village", and then there it was:

The Arch! What an impressive sight! I went all crazy and started taking pictures like a group of tourists from Asia in a Bavarian village. I guess M was a little annoyed at that point, since he lived in St. Louis for about 1 year. Nonetheless he let me be the crazy chick.

I've found a great deal for a hotel room online! We stayed at the "Crowne Plaza" on 4th street - the room was $96! Which included parking. Amazing! It's a very nice hotel. Our room was on the 23rd floor, and check out the view:

Everything we wanted to see was walking distance from the hotel, so we were finally able to have some drinks together at the Ballpark Village Saturday night. And trust me: we enjoyed it!

Black Friday & a German Advent Tradition // Weekend Recap LinkUp

Hello and HAPPY MONDAY!

Congrats, if you can read this, you survived Thanksgiving, and Black Friday! Did you guys do some shopping? The husband, his mom, and I headed to Texarkana, TX, to watch the craziness! Since I've bought my new laptop on bestbuy.com for the very same price and free shipping, the whole LIVE Black Friday experience was just entertainment for us. For me, being a good old German soul, I can only say: Black Friday is the most insane shit I've ever seen. Some deals might be awesome, but what I saw was people goingh insane over stuff that wasn't even cheap at all.

DON'T Y'ALL HAVE ANY DIGNITY???? Ah no, I forgot, you leave that at the door. Fighting over $8 PJ sets & "Frozen" bean bags???? SERIOUSLY???
Plus: I went to Wally World yesterday again. Guess what: All that shit is still there. Sorry you lost some hair (and your dignity) while fighting for freakin Olaf on a piece of fabric Friday night. While dragging your 4 kids along. At 10 pm. Not cool.

BUT: While everyone else was fighting over Olaf, Elsa, fluffy PJs and 40" TVs, my husband just walked over to the Automotive section, and grabbed a 50" Samsung smart TV for less than $500. No line at all. No craziness. Not bad for just watching, right? The picture below shows Target, btw. We didn't go in there... And I'm happy about that. People look like fenced in kettle.




Anywho...

A German tradition I didn't se over here so far is the "Adventskranz" = "Advent Wreath". Every Sunday until Christmas, you light one more of the four candles. This is my "Adventskranz", and yesterday we lit the first candle and had too much Glühwein and Eggnog:

Since it was 73F/23C over here, and 33F/1C in Germany, I was sharing this picture on Facebook with my friends and family. It felt different and strange celebrating the 1st Advent in shorts and flip flops... :oD

Meet Alisha:

I am a stay-at-home wife and HH6 (Household 6=Army Wife) to an amazing husband for over 10 years and look forward to many, many more wonderful years. He is a Major in the U.S. Army. We met in NYC on July 18, 2003 and instantly fell in love. We got engaged on February 13, 2004 and got married by the Justice of the Peace on April 23, 2004. E wanted to be married before he left for Iraq in October 2004. He was in theater for over a year and that was one of the hardest things I ever had to deal with in my life. We believe it made our love and marriage so much stronger. When he came back home, we had a big Military wedding on May 26, 2006 and honeymooned in the Adirondacks at the Wawbeek in Upper Saranac NY (unfortunately it is no longer there). We have lived on Fort Belvoir, VA, Fort Benning, GA, Kingston, Ontario, Canada (Exchange Officer) and we are currently in Wiesbaden, Germany.

I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and very proud to call myself a Brooklynite. I miss my family, friends, good food, the beaches and Manhattan's city vibe. We have a 7 1/2 year old Yellow Lab named Holly, who always brings us so much joy and puts a smile on our faces. In June 2010, we lost our Tuxedo cat named Patch to a stroke. He had just turned 13 years old. Every time we think of him he puts a smile on our faces and we miss him terribly.

I learned how to sew from my Mom in 2008. My first projects were pillows and have been hooked ever since. In January 2010, I took sewing classes at Columbus State University's Continuing Ed program and received my Sewing Certificate in November 2010.  I also have been scrapbooking and stamping for over 8 years and really enjoying being crafty. My Mom and MIL tried to teach me how to knit and then I took knitting classes in August of 2011. 

 I look forward to learning new things from all of the wonderful and crafty bloggers out there and seeing their beautiful creations.
