Review: Jillian Michaels Detox & Cleanse

I really believe there are so many benefits in doing a good detox program about twice a year. The crap that's building up inside your system, has to get kicked out of your body. Since my major issue is my lower belly (bloating etc.), I thought I might give my friend Jillian Michael and her "Thin Care Jillian Michaels Detox & Cleanse MetaCaps" a try. I purchased it for the sole purpose of detoxing.

FYI: This is not a sponsored post and I am by no means affiliated with Jillian Michaels and/or this product!
I just want to share my experience with you.

The product description is as follows:

Thin Care Jillian Michaels Detox and Cleanse MetaCaps will help reduce belly bloat, reduce body waste buildup, support your colon and digestive system, help support the liver’s natural detoxification process, and help you feel lighter and more energized.

It really sound like a perfect fit to my needs. The set contains 28 MetaCaps for Detox & Cleanse, and 7 Probiotic MetaCaps. You start your detox taking 2 of the "Detox & Cleanse" in the morning, and 2 in the early evening. After the 7 days of detoxing, you start taking 1 Probiotic MetaCap a day. These supplements work to reduce body waste buildup, support the liver’s detoxification processes, and aid digestive health with probiotics.

I didn't really feel the detoxing effect right away. Around the 4th day though I felt way better! Definitely less bloated and more energized. During the first 2-3 days of the detox, I did experience a few cramps in my lower belly. I was about to quit to be honest. But now after finishing the 14 days, I am very glad I made it! It was definitely worth it!

Staying Active While Traveling

Today marks my last day in Germany. I've had a wonderful time! And you might have realized, I was trying to stay as active as possible while being over here. Here goes a list of activities you can easily include in your vacation time:

Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred
Squeezing a 30 minute workout into your daily routine is or should be easy. So is packing 2 sets of workout clothes into your suitcase. Grab 2 water bottles if you don't have access to dumb bells, and get going! Put the workout DVD on your iPad or laptop, and bring it with you on your vacation. I was lucky my sister has the DVD. I was doing a good job keeping up the shredding over here, besides all the other activities. Currently I'm on day 14.

Running
Pack your running shoes and explore the city and surroundings! That's what I usually do, no matter where I go! If there is a 5K run in the area during the vacation time -> do it and grab the medal as a nice souvenir!

Hiking
Nothing is easier than putting on some sturdy shoes and leaving for a hike. Since hiking is becoming more and more a trend, there are wonderful hiking trails almost everywhere. Check out the AllTrails app - it's awesome to get started!

Last but not least: Sightseeing!
My pedometer on the phone is exploding since I'm on vacation! I'm walking around so much during my sightseeing. Burning calories without even noticing is awesome!

TGIF. Seriously.

The weekend is here. Well, almost... Anyone else in desperate need of sleep? I am tired 24/7 lately, I get up, feel ok for about 2 hours, and then start yawning again. My doc is even concerned, so I have to go to a check up Wednesday morning to get a few things checked (Iron, Vitamin B12, and my thyroid).

Besides that "little" issue, I am doing GREAT sports-rehab-wise. My physical therapist is very happy with my progress, so since yesterday I am officially allowed to do more exercises again, INCLUDING ABS! Oh I'm happy!

I still miss running like crazy though :o( but I have to give my body some time to get back on track. And hurrying will make everything worse. So lately you can see me on a machine that hardly saw me before:

The step machine.

For me it really is one of those chick-workout-machines... Where all these sheilas do their little-bitty moves but still being careful NOT to sweat. Cause of the make-up, you know.

But now, here I am. KILLING it on the chick machine! 30 mins at least. Sweating like a mo.... sorry, no swearing. Hehehehe, but I guess you can imagine me, red headed, sweaty, working out on the step machine.
I started pumping iron again as well, but with a lot less weight than before. It feels good to slowly be back on a workout routine though. Oh and last night I got myself another motivation on eBay as well!!!!! I'm soooo excited and can't wait to start! Look:

Yes. It is "Insanity" and "The Asylum"!!! Shaun T! Our friend! Beachbody stuff! Anni is excited!! I will start doing it slowly, first checking out every small little workout on each DVD and modify stuff for myself if needed. Just the way I already do it with "Jillian Michaels - Yoga Meltdown".
And if I'm still unsure if I can do an exercise, I can ask my little sister, who is a physical therapist as well :o) and a KICK ASS one! I'm proud of her and I looooove the fact she still likes me even though I keep asking weird health questions lately ;o)

So, I hope you all will have a smooth start into a wonderful weekend! And if you have any tips concering Shaun T and the workouts, let me know! I'd be happy to hear from you!

Reebok Fitness Remix // My further fitness steps

Happy Friday!

Oh how happy I am I made it through another week. Yesterday I went to a convention in Munich in th emorning, got back home around 1am, couldn't fall asleep right away... But the alarm went off at 7:20am anyways. I'm tireder than tired.

Today was a pretty busy day at the office so far as well. I will head out to get a manicure in about 20 mins though :o) ísn't this a wonderful thing to start off a weekend?

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I will be in Berlin. My company has a booth at the "Bread & Butter". So if you are in the area, shoot me an e-mail (grapefruitprincess(at)web.de) and we can meet up! It's the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin as well next week, so I bet some of you guys will be around. Holla atcha gurrrl!

But let's get back to fitness business! I am proud to say: I'm still not smoking! Here are my official numbers:

What should I say? I feel better and healthier every darn day :o)! I wish my lungs would recover faster though... But that's what you get for spending too much time playing around with cancer sticks.

Since I've finished Jillian Michaels' "30 Day Shred", I started doing her DVD "Extreme Shed & Shred" for a couple of days, but as soon as I got my "Ripped in 30" DVD, I postponed the shed and started the rip ;o)

Yesterday was my rest-day - but running around on a convention for hours and hours was even tougher than 30 mins with Jillian :oD! So today I officially start Week 2 of "Ripped in 30"! So excited, cause I really don't know what to expect! No sneak peek so far! I stayed strong!

Tomorrow I will join a big fitness event in Nuremberg: The "Reebok Fitness Remix Tour"! I don't really know what to expect, but I hope it will be a whole lot of fun doing new exercises and hopefully grabbing some goodies! I LOVE stuff for free :oD! Wanna sponsor me?
I will try to take some snapshots of the event to post them on here. So make sure to check back!

Celebrated my 31st birthday as a finisher

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 31. I had a wonderful day!
I went to work til around 2:30PM, then off to the pool with my sis and nephew, dinner on a restaurant's patio right by the riverside in the evening, and some good night's sleep in the night :o)

Surprise gift on my desk this morning :)

Yummy!

I'm pretty sure this year will be a wonderful and healthy year for me. Full of huge changes as well.

I am still smoke free. 15 days today! I'm really proud and I'm sure now I made it!

My First 5k run!

But Saturday, June 15th, I did something, that makes me even prouder: I ran my first 5k run while it was around 85F and I finished it in 32 mins! It was one of the most amazing feelings EVER! I just did it, after working out hard for a while now. NO Couch to 5k App. Nothing. I was just constantly working on my fitness, by doing the Jillian Michaels workouts, going to the gym, riding my bike and changing my eating habits.
Losing some lbs is great. But the feeling I had runing the last few seconds towards the finish line, which was crowded by people and Samba bands and stuff: THIS was the best feeling and biggest reward! Oh and the little medal and certificate I got are neat as well ;o)

Sweaty, but HAPPY!

Smoke-Free: Day 3!

Hey there lovely readers!

So here I am, I made it to day 3 of my new life as a recovering-smokeaholic. Smoke free, and patch free. Yep! So here's how I felt so far:

Day 1

I can't remember much to be honest. Where my brain used to be, there only seemed to be a hot dog bun. That's how I felt. Chewing gum aaaaaaall day. Plus wearing this "medium" patch. Didn't sleep good at all, didn't work out that day, and I was hungry. HUNGRY! In the morning I would have had a corn dog if one was around. Oh and cocktails! I was daydreaming of Margaritas! Geeeeeeez... Drug withdrawal is tough indeed.

Feeling: Blah and dumb.
Gums: 25(?)
Patch: Yes
Food: A lot. Of crap.
Workout: Nope.

Day 2

I was so tired after waking up every 20 mins that night.Work was stressful as heck. I am all alone at the office right now, but I've somehow managed it to finish everything around 5:15PM. Went home, changed into workout gear right away, and did "Extreme Shred & Shed" with Jillian Michaels. I did the warm up and Level 2, but had to stop 5 minutes early though, cause I had to head over to my sister's to babysit my nephew. I removed the patch in the afternoon since I didn't feel it was doing any good; besides it started to itch. I think I was keeping up petty good that day! Plus I had some good night's sleep! (blame it on the no-more-patch)

Feeling: Tired but not like a junkie on cold turkey anymore.
Gums: 2
Patch: 4 hours, then ripped it off for good!
Food: Healthy breakfast, ice cream for lunch, and Lasagne and stuffed bell peppers for dinner.
Workout: "Extreme Shed & Shred", Level 2.

Day 3

Almost half way through day 3 now, and I'm feeling better and better! Almost nocraving for cigarettes. I can even smell it when someone walks past my office window smoking a cigarette and it BOTHERS me :oD
I'm looking forward to get off, so I can have a phone date with hubs, another workout with Jillian, roasted veggies and goat cheese for dinner... Feeling good!

Feeling: Awesome!
Gums: 2
Patch: -
Food: Healthy breakfast, ice cream and peaches for lunch. And tons of water!
Workout: Meeting Jillian later, so it will be "Extreme Shed & Shred" again!

Day 1 of a new challenge

So, after smoking again for about 3.5 years, this morning I decided that it's finally time to start kickin this baaaaad habit. Why?
  • It's bad
  • It stinks
  • It's pure cancer
  • It doesn't fit my new healthy lifestyle
  • It's freakin expensive
Yea, ha ha, I knew that. A while now. Actually every day during my career as a stinky smoker. But this morning I just decided to quit. I even went to the pharmacy to get a patch supply for the next 7 days. Medium. Yep!

So here I am now, sitting at work, chewing sugar free gum. I keep thinking "Oh I could go smoke a cigarette!" but then I do it Homer Simpson Style "D'oh!".

Withdrawl Symptoms??

I feel a little weird as well. Like, today I printed out this picture of Lil Jon's yearbook photo, and whenever I look at it I laugh sooooooo hard:

Oh and I am in love with T-Rex jokes, lately:

I can't wait to get home to let Jillian Michaels kick my ass!!!

30 Day Shred: DONE! // Plus: AdSpace Discount

I completed day 30 of Jillian Michael's "30 Day Shred" last night!

I will definitely go on doing her workouts - they are fun & challenging!

I've lost 15.8lbs during these 30 days. I have to admit, I didn't just do the "shred". I went to the gym at least twice a week, did my bike rides outside, and ate a whole lot cleaner than I used to. I am still really impressed by the results. Now I wish I would have measured my body before I started. But my clothes tell me: I've lost a few inches. So happy!

I will keep the hard work up though, because since I started working out on a regular basis, I feel sooooooo much better!

I don't like lazy people.

Hello and Happy Monday!

I hope you guys had an amazing weekend and wonderful Mother's Day? My weekend was so and so. My dad and his girlfriend came all the way down to Bavaria to visit my sis, nephew, and Miss Anni. It was nice to have Dad around... Friday after work I joined them at my sister's place for coffee and cake, and afterwards we went for a walk in the park. I was playing soccer with my nephew - and the dog - and my sis took some awesome action shots :oD

After that walk and soccer, I went home and finished day 19 of the "30 day shred" - but that was it workout-wise for the rest of the weekend. My belly was killing me (the time of the month) and I spent most time on the couch, hot-water bag, blanket, sweatpants, "Army Wives". So if you look at the following 2 pictures, you can see my Sunday view. I didn't even make it to church...

Saturday we went downtown Nuremberg for a couple of hours for some shopping, and had a coffee at the beach as well. Don't you hate it when you realize your parents - in my case: Dad - get old and lazy? They wanted to sit down and take a break every 5 minutes. It was so irritating! They are pretty lazy, and I hate that. You only have one body and (especially when you are a little older) you should try to live a healthy lifestyle and KEEP MOVING! Nope, not them. They sit on their butts all day, drink tons of coffee, wine, beer, you name it.

After me living here for more than 2 years now, Dad FINALLY made it up the stairs to the 5th floor to help me put the hood above the stove. I wanted to show them my "home", but all they wanted was to finish this little project asap so they could go back over to my sis and have some more rest. Argh.

At least the kitchen looks a little more professional and way nicer now:

Today I'm at work, still suffering a little. But one thing is for sure: I will definitely do day 20 of the "30 Day Shred" tonight!!! I can't wait!

How was your weekend?

And: Is it common that parents get weird at a certain point? It sucks :(

It sucks :(
