On The Road // Just write

I'm currently on the train to Trier, the city I lived in for 12 years. I will visit family and friends there.

The apartment in Fuerth is getting more and more empty... So this so called vacation is rather an escape.

I'm so sleepy right now. I had trouble falling asleep last night, and then the alarm went off at 7:30am. I keep trying to take a nap on the train, but since everyone around me is talking really loud, I can't. I've tried to read, but it's too loud for me to focus on my book. I'm about to open that can of Red Bull I have in my backpack. If I can't sleep, I'll try to be awake. Wide awake.

One of the reasons I didn't sleep last night was that I miss M and Coco like crazy right now. They left 2 weeks ago... We have been apart way longer before, but somehow this time the missing is worse. It might sound funny, but having Coco cat around made it easier for me to stay sane while M was in the states and I was in Germany. Now I'm all alone... Of course I still have my family and friends around here, but my own little family is miles and miles away. I can't wait to be on the plane soon!

Moving date is set to February 17th. After that I will have to take care of a few smaller things, and then I'm ready to go as well! Yay!

I hope you guys had an awesome weekend!

Reebok Fitness Remix // My further fitness steps

Happy Friday!

Oh how happy I am I made it through another week. Yesterday I went to a convention in Munich in th emorning, got back home around 1am, couldn't fall asleep right away... But the alarm went off at 7:20am anyways. I'm tireder than tired.

Today was a pretty busy day at the office so far as well. I will head out to get a manicure in about 20 mins though :o) ísn't this a wonderful thing to start off a weekend?

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I will be in Berlin. My company has a booth at the "Bread & Butter". So if you are in the area, shoot me an e-mail (grapefruitprincess(at)web.de) and we can meet up! It's the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin as well next week, so I bet some of you guys will be around. Holla atcha gurrrl!

But let's get back to fitness business! I am proud to say: I'm still not smoking! Here are my official numbers:

What should I say? I feel better and healthier every darn day :o)! I wish my lungs would recover faster though... But that's what you get for spending too much time playing around with cancer sticks.

Since I've finished Jillian Michaels' "30 Day Shred", I started doing her DVD "Extreme Shed & Shred" for a couple of days, but as soon as I got my "Ripped in 30" DVD, I postponed the shed and started the rip ;o)

Yesterday was my rest-day - but running around on a convention for hours and hours was even tougher than 30 mins with Jillian :oD! So today I officially start Week 2 of "Ripped in 30"! So excited, cause I really don't know what to expect! No sneak peek so far! I stayed strong!

Tomorrow I will join a big fitness event in Nuremberg: The "Reebok Fitness Remix Tour"! I don't really know what to expect, but I hope it will be a whole lot of fun doing new exercises and hopefully grabbing some goodies! I LOVE stuff for free :oD! Wanna sponsor me?
I will try to take some snapshots of the event to post them on here. So make sure to check back!

I was all cool during the past weeks, but now that it's HERE.... Geez. My stomach is acting up and I'm just one wreck.
The alarm going off at 3am won´t be much help, too! Arrrrrrrrrrgh!

But: I'm looking forward to be with M again! I miss him so much!

I will be in the US for 2 weeks, but I will try to keep you guys updated with a couple of posts :o)

#NaBloPoMo // Ready for Christmas!

Guys, to be honest: I'm terribly lazy right now! Laying on the couch with M and Coco cat, watching "The Amazing Race" and eating tons of gingerbread. Actually that's my boot camp to get my body ready for Christmas ;o)

Side note: Pure awesomeness: Jaymes and James, my Chippendales, are doing the synchronized swimming challenge right now!! Eye candy! It's hilarious! Did you guys watch last night's "Amazing Race" episode?

Ok, back to the Christmas topic. I am so ready for Christmas! I can't wait to put up the tree, baking cookies, decorating, Christmas markets and mullet wine! Oh and egg-nog! I love our German Christmas markets. Especially the one over here in Nuremberg. It's huge and famous and crowded. People from all over the world go there!

I just hope by the end of the month my life is getting back on a more quiet track again ;o) so I can celebrate at the Christmas market and get tipsy!

Alrighty y'all, have a blessed Monday and be safe!

xoxo

Monster Tour // What was I thinking?

73,40 km = 45,61 miles. That´s the distance I was riding my bike Friday! I wanted to visit my friend Aliya. So that´s what I did.

On my way there I got lost about 10 times though... Remember I told you about the GPS app I use for my bike tours? Miss Anni didn´t purchase any maps besides the ones Fuerth/Nuremberg yet. So on my way the app just told me to spend 3,99 Euro or it would refuse to lead me to Aliya´s house. Pfffffft! 3,99 Euro? Nope. :oD I made it there anyway! Ha! A little bit later than I thought though... Shhhht!

And the way back was easy. One good thing about Germany is the great cycle path network. Signs everywhere! So I made it home safe! And the ice cold shower afterwards was like heaven!

What I did purchase after this tour though? A HELMET! Yes, I love my head, I love my brain, I love my life. So after a couple of little slippy shocker moments on my monster bike tour, I finally ordered a helmet. It was waiting for me at the office today. Safety first!

#AnniWays // The Memorium Nuremberg Trials

M´s little surgery went well - tomorrow he has to go back to the doctor. If the inflammation doesn´t get any better, he has to go to the hospital though :o( please keep him in your prayers!

He was so nervous this morning, but when he called me after his appointment, he sounded so relieved and the pain is almost gone. Now he´s at home, relaxing.
I picked up his meds after work, rode my bike to the "Man Cave" (-> his little apartment) and brought him the antibiotics and a nice pizza :o). Good thing the TV with the Xbox is right in front of the bed - otherwise it would be hard to make him stay in there!

On my way home I took 2 pictures for you guys, to show you a place I drive past every time I go downtown Nuremberg. It´s the "The Memorium Nuremberg Trials", the palace of justice. If you never heard about that, here goes some information:

"Apart from the NSDAP Party Rallies held here, and the atrocious racial laws adopted in 1935, it was the Nuremberg Trials of leading representatives of the Nazi regime which led to Nuremberg's reputation in the 20th century.
The phrase "Nuremberg Trials" comprises both the so-called "Trial of the Main War Criminals" held in front of an International Military Tribunal (IMT) between November 20, 1945 and October 1, 1946, and the 12 "Follow-up Trials" between 1946 and 1949, where leading representatives of the German elites (e.g. medical doctors, legal professionals, military staff) were tried by exclusively American tribunals.
The Trial of Major War Criminals was held before the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg from November 20, 1945, to October 1, 1946. After protracted negotiations, the Allies agreed that Berlin would be the permanent seat of the court, but that the first trial would be held in Nuremberg.
This decision reached by the Allies at the London Conference in August 1945 was motivated primarily by infrastructural reasons. The Palace of Justice on Fürther Strasse, which was hardly damaged, offered sufficient space for the numerous participants from four nations. And the prison, adjacent to the Palace of Justice on the north side, simplified the custody and protection of the accused. Nuremberg's historical role as the "City of the Nazi Party Rallies" and as the place from which the Nuremberg Race Laws were proclaimed was not a decisive factor in choosing the city as the venue for the trials, but it did provide a certain symbolic importance.
Twelve subsequent trials under exclusive U.S. control were held at the same location from 1946 to 1949."  via www.memorium-nuremberg.de

I love living in a place surrounded by history. My old hometown, Trier, was full of Roman buildings. Over here, in Nuremberg, there is a whole lot of WW2 history. They made a pretty good job not removing everything after the war ended, but leaving certain stuff to remind people of the dark days in german history - building museums, showing the craziness of the Nazis, and the suffering of all their victims. They will always be remembered.

I hope I didn´t bore you guys with this little bit of history input ;o)! I just wanted to show you guys something I see almost every day.

Is there anything interesting in your hometown as well? Let me know! Post some links in the comments!

Happy hump-day!

Anni, the explorer // 2 great Apps

I just got home from an awesome bike tour! I love my new bike more and more :)

Since I´m still not really used to this area (yep, even after almost 1.5 years) I was looking for some GPS Apps especially for bike tours. For the "fitness factor" to keep track of calories and stuff, I use "SportsTracker". It´s pretty cool, since it offers quiete a few different workouts, like running, cycling, walking...

As a GPS, I now use "komoot bike". I think it´s just available in Germany? But browse through your app store, maybe it´s available in your country as well!

I LOVE komoot! It works fantastic and so far every suggested round-trip was really good! People share their trips on there as well, so you can check out their routes, too.
I also feel much safer now, since I know my way home, no matter how lost I am, is just a few clicks away :oD "Route -> Current Position -> HOME"

Here are some impressions of the tour I took today :o)! Told you it was awesome!
